Volunteer FAQs

What is the process for becoming a volunteer?

To Volunteer at Covenant House Georgia, you will need to fill out a volunteer form, attend an orientation, complete an online child abuse prevention training and submit to a background check which we will conduct-in house.

Is there a fee for the background check?

We charge a fee of $25 for each background check. The fee can be paid by cash, check or money orders made out to Covenant House Georgia.

Can I go to my local police department to order my own background check?

No. All volunteers must submit to a background check that we conduct in-house in accordance with Covenant House International's policies.

Can I complete court ordered community service with Covenant House?

We approve court ordered community service on a case-by-case basis depending on the reason for the court order, the amount of hours needed and our service project availability. Volunteers attempting to complete court ordered service must complete the full onboarding process which includes filling out a volunteer application, attending an orientation, completing an online child abuse prevention training and submitting to a background check.

Can I donate clothing and toiletries to Covenant House?

We do accept new or gently used clothing and new toiletry donations at several time throughout the year. All in-kind donors must schedule a donation appointment with a member of our staff by emailing chgavolunteer@covenanthouse.org. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept unscheduled drop-offs at this time.
