Overnight Supervisor RA

The overall goal of the position is to create and maintain a healthy and safe environment for the youth in program. The Supervisor enhances and supports the quality of services provided by the overnight team. All duties should be performed within the framework of Covenant Houses’ Mission Statement, Five Principles and Policies and Procedures. This position reports to the Shelter Coordinator and to the ROP Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Covenant House Georgia reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following:

. Uphold Covenant House Georgia standards of conduct, policies and procedures at all times

. Attend and participate all scheduled or mandatory meetings, trainings and supervision sessions as requested

. Adhere to all confidentiality requirements and standards

. Develop and maintain work schedule ensuring proper resident advisor coverage for residential programs

. Train, develop and supervise overnight staff

. Complete performance appraisals, recommendation for corrective action and create development plans

. Oversee the monitoring of the physical condition of the facility by conducting internal and external rovers to ensure a clean, secure, safe and hazard free environment at all times

. Ensure the community-based resident advisors are supported by regularly visiting the off-site housing facilities overnight

. Ensure adequate supervision of youth throughout the night, including 30 minute checks of rooms and apartments to ensure youth are safe and property is secure

. Ensure Rover log documentation is completed each shift

. Role model effective milieu management by being present and visible on the shelter floor or campus for at least 80% of scheduled shifts

. Ensure that all team members are in their designated places at all times during shift

.

. Maintain a clean shelter; ensure that kitchen, laundry, and lounges are all clean prior to leaving the shelter. (All laundry must be done before end of shift)

. Ensure all hazards or safety issues observed are address (or a facility repairs request is completed) before the end of every shift

. Ensure that overnight RAs assist residents in preparing for the day, ensuring appropriate dress, help with the completion of all household tasks, and in maintaining a clean and healthy living area

. Ensure the completion of all applicable documentation in data management systems, residents’ files, incident reports, log book, and other documents in compliance with the agency’s Data Integrity Plan

. Responsible for all daily documentation filing and all data input into Data Management Systems ETO and Client Track

. Maintain ethical and professional boundaries with all residents

. Report all maintenance concerns to Director and Coordinator immediately

. Participate and conduct safety related drills

. For the Crisis Shelter – Prepare bag lunches for residents, take out supplies for the following day’s dinner (following food distribution procedures) and prepare breakfast for youth

. Follow all department procedures for resident schedule, flow of the day, shift transition, food preparation, crisis intervention, and on-call utilization

. Provide transportation for emergency calls as well as for youth traveling from work after/before public transportation stops/starts running

. Perform all other tasks as requested by the Coordinator and CHGA administration

. Seek and accept supervision and continuing education

. Ensure all shift responsibilities and youth follow-ups are completed by the end of the shift

. Complete shift transition report and transition all necessary information to the incoming team

. Make necessary contact with the on-call staff according to on call notification procedures

. Ensure the daily schedule and flow of the day responsibilities are being followed

. Ability to:

+ establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, representatives of other agencies, and the public

+ communicate well (verbal and written) with client, staff and external relations.

+ handle multiple tasks and projects

+ be flexible, amiable, & willing to work as a team

+ work a flexible schedule as needed

+ travel as needed for training or to fulfill job requirements

+ lift and move objects typically weighing 5-35 pounds

+ work standing, walking, and/or sitting a minimum of 8 hours per day/shift

+ drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons (valid Georgia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record as required by insurance company required)

+ demonstrate sufficient health, ability, experience, and education to perform the assigned duties with or without accommodation

. Have strong:

+ computer skill and knowledge of web base data systems

+ organizational skills

+ crisis management intervention skills required with an ability to defuse physical and verbal confrontations

+ critical thinking and problem solving skills required

. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

. All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Supervisory duties as described above

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Field recommended or equivalent work experience preferred; minimum of 2 years experience working with at-risk youth required; minimum of 2 years experience working in a residential setting desired; knowledge of mental health and substance use is required; CPR and First Aid certification desired
