To foster the next generation of Atlanta’s community leaders and philanthropists, Covenant House Georgia (CHGA) is offering an elite scholarship program that is rooted in the spirit of service and designed to cultivate a dedication to community, lifelong learning, and humanity to high school students across the Metro Atlanta area.
We have selected 16 students to come together from October to January to learn the ins and outs of the non-profit community in Atlanta and to contribute their own strengths and skillsets to the continual improvement of our city. After learning about youth homelessness, service, and giving from Atlanta’s philanthropic and business leaders, the students will execute service projects at CHGA designed to raise awareness and meet specific needs with respect to youth homelessness in Atlanta. As they work together to creatively and innovatively address a prominent social issue, each student will also raise funds and awareness to make a profound impact in the lives of an often invisible subgroup of their own generation. Additionally, they will be matched with one of the business and philanthropic leaders who will mentor a small group of students as they increase their awareness about homelessness, fundraise for CHGA’s youth, and serve on CHGA’s campus. At the conclusion of the program, the student who raises the most funds for the youth at Covenant House Georgia will be awarded the $2,500 Scholars in Service Scholarship and will have the honor of presenting a college-bound Covenant House youth a matching $2,500 scholarship.
During this journey, the students will make lasting connections with other students and Atlanta’s philanthropic and business leaders, build service into their resumes to reflect their personal values, and broaden their understanding of social issues and services.
