Responsible for the development and implementation of therapeutic recreation groups and activities that address the needs of the residents of Covenant House Georgia. This position also provides oversight to the Outreach volunteers. This position is responsible for an array of daily interventions including groups, individual activities, crisis intervention, and behavioral programming and support activities for residents. This position reports to the Director of Youth Engagement and Outreach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Covenant House Georgia reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following:
. Responsible for conducting outreach, managing the Outreach Volunteers, and completing documentation in electronic databases
. Continuously monitor Outreach volunteers for compliance and assist in addressing issues as needed
. Recruit/maintain required number of volunteers to assist in achieving desired outreach goals
. Contribute toward increasing utilization of CHGA’s Community Service Center by youth experiencing homelessness or unhoused
. Network with community resources and make referrals as needed
. Identify and assign areas for most effective outreach efforts
. Monitor and assure all data entry in efforts to outcomes (ETO), Client Track (CT) and other required systems is completed in an accurate and timely manner
. Create recreational activity calendar that covers 7 days/week programming during traditional and non-traditional hours that are consistent with the needs, abilities, and interests of youth clients of CHGA
. Engage youth clients in therapeutic activities, such as games and field trips
. Complete assessments and record keeping in relation to a client’s clinical and behavioral progress in activities.
. Evaluate the effectiveness of all activities
. Interviews and assesses youth clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate condition of client.
. Planning, organization and participation in daily groups and recreational activities. Manages group process/dynamics.
. Transporting clients to appointments and activities as needed.
. Working with Director of Youth Engagement & Outreach to establish linkages with provider agencies and community organizations regarding recreational/outreach activities
. Assess and reassess clients’ strengths and needs and achievement of goals and objectives
. Performs timely, complete, accurate documentation of services provided that is consistent with professional standards and CHGA’s requirements.
. Handles crisis behavior by identifying antecedents and utilizing proper de-escalation methods.
. Takes initiative to make cooperative efforts with colleagues and other facility staff to meet needs of clients.
. Upholds Covenant House Georgia standards of conduct, policies and procedures at all times
. Models appropriate, professional behavior for staff to establish and maintain superior services to youth in a safe and inviting atmosphere.
. Ensures that all buildings and surrounding areas are safe and free from any conditions that may cause harm or danger to youth, staff, volunteers, or visitors.
. Ensures compliance of files in accordance to specific city, state and Federal guidelines.
. Participates in other CHGA programs and activities as required.
. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, representatives of other agencies, and the public.
. Effectively communicates, verbally and in writing, with both internal and external individuals and/or businesses.
. Responds in a timely manner to emergencies and resolve issues.
. Maintains all community relationships for outreach related collaborations
. Maintains compliance with ETO and Client Track
. Supervise volunteers for outreach activities
. Coordinate with supervisor maintenance of vans
SUPERVISORY DUTIES: There are no supervisory duties assigned to this position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related major or Allied Health required. At least two years of experience in social services preferred. Experience in youth and adolescent recreational therapy preferred. Eligible for NCTRC certification or NCTRC certified.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
. Ability to work standing, walking, and/or sitting a minimum of 8 hours per day/shift.
. Ability to participate in activities
. Ability to drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons.
. Valid Georgia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
. Ability to travel as needed for training or to fulfill job requirements.
