Covenant House Georgia is pleased to announce the appointment of our next Chief Executive Officer, Kara Stimpson!
With a passion for serving young people and a commitment to mission-driven leadership, Kara brings more than 20 years of experience to this role.
As CEO, Kara will lead Covenant House Georgia in advancing our work to provide safety, stability, and opportunity for young people experiencing homelessness and escaping trafficking across metro Atlanta and beyond.
"I'm honored to join Covenant House Georgia and the incredible community of people who make this mission possible," said Kara. "Every young person deserves safety, stability, and the opportunity to build a future filled with possibility. I can't wait to get to know our staff, board members, volunteers, and partners, and together continue creating pathways that help young people find hope, healing, and the opportunity to pursue the futures they dream of."
Board Chair Ben Deutsch shared, "From our very first conversation, Kara's passion for the young people we serve was unmistakable. She is an innovative, mission-driven leader whose career as an educator, administrator, and nonprofit executive has given her a unique perspective on the challenges facing young people and how to help them thrive."
With more than 20 years of experience in education and the nonprofit sector, Kara has dedicated her career to expanding opportunities for children, youth, and families.
She began her career as an English teacher before serving in a variety of school leadership roles, including principal, where she led transformational improvements in student achievement, expanded special education services, and launched innovative programs to better support students and families.
Kara later brought her passion for youth development to the nonprofit sector, serving as Chief Impact Officer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, most recently, she served as CEO of Helping People Succeed, expanding programs, strengthening community partnerships, and increasing philanthropic investment to drive lasting impact.
As Covenant House Georgia looks to the future, Kara's leadership will help build on our strong, quarter-century foundation while expanding opportunities to meet the evolving needs of young people across our community.
