When Jason first came to Covenant House Georgia, he didn’t know where to turn. After being kicked out of his sister’s home three years ago, he spent two nights in another shelter before receiving a call that would change everything: an invitation to find refuge at Covenant House Georgia (CHGA).
Since then, Jason has been part of our community several times as he works toward his goals. Last year, he successfully moved into our Gift of Hope Apartments, a transitional living program on our campus. Through this initiative, youth staying in these apartments have the opportunity to experience independent living, with guidance and support from CHGA staff along the way.
Jason is flourishing in his newfound independence. When asked what he thinks about the Gift of Hope program, Jason says, “It’s awesome!" What he loves most are the feelings of peace and quiet that come with having his own living space.
Jason emphasizes that the support he's received from CHGA's community has been invaluable. Once the CHGA team sees you working hard to improve your life, Jason says, "They’re going to do anything they possibly can to help you succeed in that venture."
With your support, we will always be there for young people like Jason when they need us.
JASON'S JOURNEY: FINDING BELONGING
What keeps Jason coming back to Covenant House Georgia? He enthusiastically told us, "The staff!" Jason says, “Once they see you trying to make your life better, they’ll do anything they possibly can to help you succeed."
Jason has also found a sense of belonging by attending an optional weekly Bible study hosted by our Covey Guild volunteers. “It gives me good contact with God, you know” he says. “I still have a lot to learn. Although I know a lot, I still have a lot to learn in life, growing up - I’m still young, so Bible study helps keep my head on a swivel."
For Jason, Covenant House Georgia means “a great and safe haven.” During the holidays, he says, "It means everything! They make you feel not left out."
This season, your generosity helps ensure that young people like Jason have a safe place to sleep, warm meals to share, and caring adults to turn to - not just during the holidays, but all year long.
When you give to Covenant House Georgia, you offer hope, opportunity, and the belief that every young person deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
Will you make spirits bright for youth experiencing homelessness and/or escaping trafficking this holiday season?
Jason says it best: “If you’re in trouble, and between the ages of 18 to 24, check out Covenant House Georgia! If you do what you’re supposed to do, how you’re supposed to do it, you will have no problems.”
Thank you for helping us make spirits bright, this holiday season and beyond.
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE & ABSOLUTE RESPECT
When young people come through our shelter doors, we immediately meet their basic needs: a hot meal, shower, fresh clothes, medical care, and a clean bed to sleep in.
From there, youth are matched with a Case Manager to help them create a personalized plan for their unique goals, challenges, and future.
At the core of our programs is a commitment to offering each young person unconditional love and absolute respect as they move toward independent living.
MAKE THE SEASON BRIGHT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS & ESCAPING TRAFFICKING
With your gift to Covenant House Georgia, you'll make a direct impact on young people overcoming homelessness and / or escaping trafficking. Your tax-deductible donation empowers our team to continue providing shelter, support, and care to nearly 2,000 young people each year.
This holiday season - and all year long - your donation will provide warmth, joy, and hope to the young adults at Covenant House Georgia. Thank you!
