Covenant House Georgia Back to School 2025

Meet Nyanguor

Meet Nyanguor: a down-to-earth, funny, and kind young woman who’s preparing to start nursing school at Georgia State University's Perimeter College!

She journals often, loves indie pop and R&B, and lights up when she talks about her dream of working in esthetics after gaining experience in a hospital setting.

But Nyanguor's journey to nursing school hasn’t been easy. After moving from Iowa to Atlanta on her own in search of new opportunities, Nyanguor found herself experiencing homelessness. She briefly stayed at another local shelter before arriving at Covenant House Georgia (CHGA).

Since joining our Rights of Passage program a year ago, Nyanguor has found more than just housing. She’s found stability, encouragement, and a team of adults who believe in her. She shares, "My Case Manager has definitely helped me access ways to pay for the fees [for] getting into college. That definitely, really helped me a lot."

Help youth like Nyanguor stay focused on school, not survival. Your gift provides necessities like meals and study snacks, case management, tuition support, transportation, and safe housing. With your help, youth at CHGA can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and becoming the leaders they were meant to be.

Nyanguor's motivation runs deep. Her mother fled civil war in South Sudan and never had the opportunity to pursue an education. That sacrifice fuels Nyanguor’s determination to build a better future - not only for herself, but as a role model for her younger siblings.

Now, Nyanguor is building a future that her mother could only dream of. Thanks to friends like you, our team will be cheering her on every step of the way.
