The Covenant House Tailgate

August 30, 2019 | by morwebadmin

High school football has already kicked off under the Friday night lights, soon college football and our Falcons will be kicking off at Mercedes Benz, and on September 19th Covenant House will be kicking off the season with our 2nd Annual Tailgate! Whether you are a die-hard college football fan, more of an NFL person, or just someone who likes to show up to the tailgates for the delicious foods and fun environment, the Covenant House Tailgate has something for you!

The Covenant House Tailgate is being held at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park from 6:30-8:30pm. It will be hosted by Atlanta’s favorite sports radio personality Steak Shapiro with a special appearance from former Atlanta Falcon’s player Brian Finneran. The Silent Auction and Raffle will feature great pieces like an Alex Mack signed photograph, luxurious vacation trips, and much more. Our partnership with Atlanta Eats means that there will be plenty of delicious food provided by DAS BBQ, Atlanta International Catering, and Tiff’s Treats.

As the city of Atlanta has grown, the sports industry and culinary industry has grown right along with it. We’ve hosted the college football championship, the Super Bowl, and it was just announced we would host the MLB All-Star in 2021. In the culinary world, Atlanta restaurants are constantly ranked as some of the best in the Southeast, and even in the country! With positive growth, however, comes negative side effects. Youth homelessness expands when a city grows in opportunity. Housing becomes less affordable and the market for sex trafficking grows. This past year in the city of Atlanta, there were 3500 youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness on any given night.

While Atlanta is gaining national attention as a growing destination for sports fans and foodies alike, we are so thankful that restaurants and athletes in Atlanta have continued to put their community first by giving back. Whether it is cooking food for the youth in our shelter or donating signed memorabilia to be auctioned off at fundraisers, the city of Atlanta has wrapped their arms around Covenant House.

We are so thankful for our partners all across Atlanta, whether it is a restaurant, a professional athlete, or a media personality, but you don’t have to be famous to help Covenant House Georgia! It takes an entire community of support to ensure that our youth at Covenant House are provided with everything they need. The Covenant House Tailgate is a fun and easy way to support Covenant House while also spreading awareness. Buy your ticket, invite your friends, and come out on September 19th to enjoy the Tailgate!
